Introducing our new Headteacher, Mrs Lois Gaffney
Following a rigorous interview process, we are delighted to announce that Mrs Lois Gaffney has been appointed as the Headteacher of Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School, to be joining us for the upcoming academic year.
Mrs Gaffney has a wealth of experience in the independent school sector and joins us from Brighton College Singapore where she has been the Deputy Head since 2020. Mrs Gaffney’s ethos and values are perfectly aligned to those of the school, and we are thrilled to have her on board and see Prince’s Gardens grow from strength to strength under her leadership.
Mrs Gaffney knows the independent school sector well, having worked in leadership positions within prep schools for the past 13 years. She started her career at Old Buckenham Hall Preparatory School where she held the role of Head of Science and Designated Safeguarding Lead before progressing to Deputy Head.
Mrs Gaffney then moved to Korea where she became Head of Prep School and Vice Principal for North London Collegiate School in Jeju, before relocating back to England to join the prestigious Handcross Park School in Sussex, which holds the accolades of ‘Prep School of the Year’, ‘Best Prep School for Innovation’ and ‘Best Prep School for Pastoral Care’.
In addition to being an accomplished science teacher, Mrs Gaffney is passionate about curricula development, pupil progress, and innovative teaching and learning. In recent years, she has specialised in developing excellent Early Years provision, ensuring the foundations for the youngest children are well developed. Mrs Gaffney also has strong success in preparing children for entrance to leading day and boarding schools and ensuring a smooth transition to the next stage of their education.
Mrs Gaffney’s ambition for Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School and her focus on the children’s happiness and success will continue to drive the school forward, building on the great work of Mrs Melrose. She strongly believes that communication and relationships with parents and staff are key in forging successful outcomes, and comes with a wealth of success in this area. She promotes a culture where talents and abilities are nurtured, where children are taught that they should have an open mindset and where there are no limits in their dreams and aspirations.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Mrs Gaffney to the Prince’s Gardens community.
