Early Years
Childhood is precious. At Prince's Gardens Preparatory School our Early Years team value every moment.
By combining the latest teaching methods with first class facilities and resources, each child is encouraged to achieve their full potential in all areas of school life.
Pupils are nurtured as they develop core academic skills, personal qualities and attitudes for life.
Online learning
We ensure our pupils succeed academically through excellent online teaching and support.
Now that we have returned to full-time online learning, our provisions mean that we can continue to provide a high-quality education experience. We also recognise that learning from home will not always be straightforward, with multiple family members needing to work and study simultaneously in the same space.
The programme we have devised is based on our current curriculum with vital feedback from existing parents. Supported by both live (synchronous) and pre-prepared (asynchronous) lessons and resources, our online learning offers a blend of different teaching methods and gives families the flexibility they need during changing times, as well as ensuring we are able to maintain our pupils’ academic progress.
Years 1 to 6
At the heart of our preparatory school is a broad and exciting curriculum.
At Prince's Gardens, we believe in helping children achieve their personal best.
This is accomplished through excellent and motivated teaching and the promotion of learning skills that encourage pupils to be active, reflective and self-directed, as appropriate for their age and stage. The school is split between the Lower School, Years 1 - 3, and the Upper School, Years 4 - 6.
11+ preparation
The school's curriculum ensures rigorous preparation for 11+ entrance exams and assessments and the next stage of education.
From Year 4, this includes timetabled lessons in verbal and non-verbal reasoning and current affairs and from Year 6, critical thinking, interview practice and a scholarship seminar programme.
Whole school assessment and exam weeks are held in the autumn and summer terms.
Year 6 pupils have weekly exam practice in preparation for their senior school entrance tests.
The Headmistress meets regularly with parents to help guide them on choosing the senior school where their child will flourish and holds an annual 11+ information evening.
Digital learning
Digital learning and technology is an important part of our curriculum.
It is our responsibility to see it as an extension of our pencil case and integrated into daily learning.
Technology has become a fundamental part of our education, not only allowing us to deliver great teaching and learning but as a platform for collaboration and productivity. We have witnessed first-hand the positive impact it can have, putting students at the heart of their learning by increasing engagement, developing intrinsic interpersonal skills, and preparing them for the future of adult life.
