  • Registration

    Please complete our online registration form. Our application deadline for the 2023 academic year is 30 November 2022. Our application deadline for the 2022 academic year has now passed, however occasional places may arise so if you would like to discuss a September 2022 entry, please contact our Admissions Manager on 020 7591 4620.

  • Invite

    After registration we will invite your family to meet with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This is the perfect opportunity for us to get to know your child better, determine their current academic level and learn how we can help them to fulfil their potential.

  • Receive an offer

    If there is space available and we believe Prince's Gardens is the right school for your child, an offer letter will be sent to you shortly after assessment. Priority places will be awarded to siblings of Prince's Gardens pupils.

Readiness sessions and assessments

You'll receive an email inviting your child to attend a Nursery Readiness session, Pre-Reception or a Reception Readiness session or an Assessment for Year 1 upwards.

We feel it is very important for us to meet the children wanting to join Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School and find out more about them.

Children joining Pre-Reception and Reception are invited for a school readiness assessment. We ask each child to bring a favourite book, drawing or toy to show the teacher before playing some games.

Children wishing to enter Year 1 or Year 2 will have an assessment and will be interviewed by the Headmistress.

Children wishing to enter Years 3 to 6 will complete assessments in both English and mathematics with a member of the Admissions Team and an interview with the Headmistress.

Open days

At our open events, you’ll have the opportunity to meet our Headmistress, Mrs Alison Melrose, and find out more about the school.

If you would like to learn more about Prince's Gardens we recommend you register to attend an Open Morning. This is the perfect opportunity to hear from our Headmistress, Mrs Melrose, meet our staff and have a tour of our lovely building and inspiring facilities.

Fees are invoiced and all other costs can be paid for via Cognita Connect, our communication app. Fees are reviewed on annual basis and publicised for the coming academic year early in the summer term.

Sibling discounts are also available at 5% for the second child and 10% for the third and subsequent children of the same family in the school at the same time.

Lunch


Lunch, a morning break snack and milk are included as part of the school fees for all year groups, except the Nursery class which finishes at 12 noon.

Music


Additional instrument lessons are available with dedicated, talented teachers. These lessons are charged per 30 minute lesson.

Scholarships

Each year we are able to award a number of scholarships to pupils who demonstrate exceptional potential. Designed to recognise and reward excellence, we attract some of the best candidates in London.

Scholarships can be awarded for entry to Year 3, 4 or 5, depending on which Scholarship your child is applying for.

The application and tasks are designed to enable us to see each child’s potential for creativity, talent and innovation and the atmosphere will be relaxed and friendly. References from the child’s current school will be required.

All Scholarships are awarded solely on merit and each scholarship pupil is awarded with a fee remission. Successful candidates will be informed in writing in January. The Scholarship process for 2022 entry has now closed however information on 2023 entry will be published in the autumn term.

All-Rounder Scholarship

Prince’s Gardens has an engaging and active curriculum which inspires a love of learning, far beyond the taught curriculum. Using London as our classroom, and with some of the world’s greatest museums on our doorstep, Prince’s Gardens is a fantastic backdrop for cultivating inspiration and developing independent thinking skills and enquiring minds.

The outstanding and engaging curriculum at Prince’s Gardens enables talent to develop and to shine. We are keen to offer our All-Rounder scholarship to applicants wishing to enter the school in Years 3 or 4. Pupils who demonstrate academic excellence as well as a talent in art, drama, music, sport, STEM or languages are invited to complete the scholarship assessments in January.

Music Scholarship

Prince’s Gardens has an outstanding music department with close ties to the Royal College of Music. All pupils are introduced to an exciting range of instruments and musical styles during class music lessons.

We are delighted to offer music scholarships to children keen to join the school in Year 4 or 5 who show excellent potential and commitment in music. Scholarships are awarded by the Headmistress, following an audition with the Head of Music.

International Students

We regularly welcome international students* from a variety of countries to join our school community.

International families choose Prince's Gardens Preparatory because of our commitment to academic excellence, character development, global perspectives, and British values, as well as our excellent exam results, university destinations and strong focus on wellbeing. All students – British, EU and international – are charged the same fees, regardless of nationality or immigration status.

*International students are those with nationalities other than UK or Irish who are subject to immigration control

International Admissions


Students who are non-native English speakers will be asked to meet online with a member of our parent company, Cognita’s, international team, who will informally assess their English language level. The international team will then advise the school whether the student would benefit from additional support with their English prior to enrolment and/or during the first year of their studies.

Prince's Gardens Preparatory and Cognita work with a range of international student recruitment agencies, education consultants and relocation agents. Agents and consultants are invited to contact the international admissions team at Cognita about representation.

English as an Additional Language


Students who need support with English as an Additional Language prior to enrolment and/or during the first year of their studies may be referred to Cognita’s English language school, Ardmore. Ardmore have over 35 years’ experience supporting young English learners and have recently developed an online platform – Ardmore X – to support teacher-led and independent study. Ardmore can support international students prepare for life at school in the UK in the weeks and months prior to the start of term. They can also support students throughout their first few terms with us, scheduling online English lessons outside of the standard school day.

International Deposit


International students who receive an offer to study at Prince's Gardens Preparatory will be asked to accept their place by completing and returning an acceptance form and paying an £8,000 deposit. The international deposit will be returned at the end of a student’s time at the school, providing appropriate notice has been given and all fees have been settled.

UK Visas and Immigration


Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School's parent company, Cognita, has a licence to sponsor Child Student visas. Please contact Cognita’s international team if you would like to discuss visa sponsorship. The team will be glad to support you throughout your application and subsequent studies. Families are asked to settle the academic year’s fees in full and pay a £500 administration fee for each Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) in advance of sponsorship.

The international team can support parents of students aged 4 to 11 years old who wish to join their children in the UK under the Parent of a Child Student visa route.

We also welcome international students who are dependents of their parents’ investor, skilled worker, and diplomatic visas, as well as those who come to the UK under many other immigration routes.

If you are unsure whether your child needs a Child Student visa, we recommend taking the UK Visas questionnaire to establish the most suitable immigration route for your family.

Uniform

At Prince's Gardens Prep, we are proud of our pupils and provide a uniform in which girls and boys can be identified as members of our school community.
