Admissions Process

Join us with our easy 4-step process

1. Get in touch

We hope you will find all the information you need on these pages but, if not, our Admissions Team is here to help. The ideal way to learn more is to meet us in person and come along to one of our Open Mornings, which are held each term.

Alternatively, if you would like to speak to a member of the Admissions Team, please complete our enquiry form, or get in touch directly by contacting us on 0207 591 4628.

2. Register

If you would like to apply for a place for your child, you will need to complete our online registration form. The application deadline for the 2025 academic year is 31 October 2024. We recommend that parents register their child 18 months in advance of their start date.

You can find more detailed information about each of our entry points, including what ages children are able to join us, below:

Nursery (Age 2 to 4)
Children may enter our Nursery from the age of 2. We recommend that parents register their child at least one year in advance of their proposed start date. Entrance to Nursery does not guarantee entry to 4+.

Prep (Age 4-13)
Our main intake is into our Reception classes, but there may be opportunities to join other year groups if places are available. Children can enter our Reception from their fourth birthday, which should fall on or before 31 August prior to starting.

Years 7 and 8
Our Year 7 class is now open. Registrations for these year groups are accepted now.

3. Taster Days and Assessments

Nursery
Once registered, children who are 2+ will be invited to join our ‘stay and play’ sessions with their parents. This gives both you and your child the opportunity to get to know us a little better. It also makes it easier for children to settle if they take up a Nursery place with us, as they will be familiar with both the teachers and our setting. These sessions are overseen by the Head of Early Years and our Admissions team.

Children who are offered a place are given a phased start to their time in Nursery which is tailored to the individual child. Places are limited and will be offered on the basis of one of the following: 5 mornings, 5 afternoons or 5 full days.

Our Nursery children show a readiness to thrive in our setting in terms of their communication and social skills and are happy to start their educational journey here.

Places for Nursery are limited.

Prep
After completing the registration process your child will be invited to attend an assessment day and your family will be invited to meet a member of our Senior Leadership Team. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know one another better and to determine your child’s current academic levels.

For entry into Year 1 upwards, the day will include standardised assessments in English, maths and reasoning. Please contact us for more information.

Years 7 and 8
Our Year 7 classes are now open. Registrations for these year groups are accepted now.

4. Offers and Welcome

If there is a space available, and we believe Brighton College Prep Kensington is the right school for your child, we will send you an offer letter shortly after assessment.

Places for our Prep classes are normally offered at the end of January.

Following your confirmation of acceptance, you will be sent an invitation to meet your child’s teacher and further information before the start of term.

Open Mornings

Our Open Mornings are the ideal way to see what Brighton College Prep Kensington is all about, for all entry points.

Come and see our beautiful school, have a tour of the classrooms, explore our two-acre Secret Garden and meet our Head, Mrs Lois Gaffney. You will also meet our outstanding teachers and have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
