Admissions

Prepared.
To find out more.

We'd love to see you at one of our open events which run regularly throughout the year.

At our open events, you’ll have the opportunity to meet our Headmistress, Mrs Alison Melrose, and hear all about her plans for the school, which opens in September 2020.

We have been holding these events locally and, whilst we have restrictions in place, we will be hosting these events ‘virtually’ – via Zoom. Mrs Melrose would also be delighted to Skype or FaceTime on an individual basis in the meantime. You can contact our Admissions team to arrange this.

Please do register for a virtual open event by following the link below. Our Admissions team will be in touch in plenty of time before the event with joining instructions.

3+ admissions

Children may join Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School in the term after their third birthday. Children who turn 3 prior to September will join our Pre-Reception class.

We have a separate Nursery class for our younger children which has a Spring term intake and a Summer term intake.

Children may join us after a successful readiness assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that children offered places will thrive during their time at Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School. The sessions are run by our Head of Early Years, who will spend time getting to know each child as an individual.

Assessments are held throughout the year and offers are made within one week of a child’s readiness session.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to those pupils who achieve outstanding results in the 7+ and 8+ assessments.

Pupils who demonstrate academic excellence are invited to complete the scholarship assessments in January. The scholarship assessment consists of a written paper along with a group task.

The tasks are designed to enable us to see each child’s potential for creativity and innovation. The atmosphere will be relaxed and friendly. References from the child’s current school will be required.

All Scholarships are awarded solely on merit and each scholarship pupil is awarded with a fee remission of 20%.

Children who participate in the Scholarship assessments are automatically offered a firm place for Year 3 or Year 4 entry. Successful candidates will be informed in writing at the end of January.
